Keraliits have proved their adaptability and ability to succeed in cosmopolitan life by establishing themselves not only in all parts of India but also in each nook and corner of the globe. Their profession vary from that of a menial servant to highly successful scientist, technocrats, bureaucrats and even potlcians. This can be attributed to the high level of literacy, social commitment and ability to accept and adopt to changes. These abilities shall be attributed to the exposure of the state had to the foreigners and their culture through the trade, developed between the state and various foreign nations, of spice. Keralites became affluent and were able to easily accept and absorb the changes in technology brought in by these foreigners. Naturally the life skills, technical skills and communication skills of average malayalies improved with the mixing of foreigners, enhancing their rate of success in alien land. The awareness of opportunities elsewhere in the world were also improved thorough this exposure.
